Joseph S. George Sr.

Joseph S. George, Sr. passed away on May 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (nee Knorr) and loving father to Jeremy George (Jaclyn), Tia Slovak, Katie Filipone (Tom), and Joseph S. George, Jr. (Megan). Proud Pop Joe to his granddaughters Grace, Nova, Bennett, and Lucy. Brother to Jim George, Sr., the late Henry George and Peg Gronendahl. Joe served in the U.S. Air Force from 1976-1980.  After 34 years of service, he retired from the School District of Philadelphia. As a member of Holiday Haven Campground for 25 years ~their happy place, Joe enjoyed fishing, boating, and building campfires while sipping on his Blackberry Brandy.  He will be missed by his family and friends.  Relatives and friends are invited to Joe’s visitation Tuesday 5/28, 10 am to 12 noon at Mannal Funeral Home, 6925 Frankford Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19135. His memorial service will follow at 12 noon.  Interment private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to The American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust  St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
