Myra Jane Gosnear
Myra “Jane” Gosnear (nee Fox), 81, of Devon, PA, died peacefully on July 23, 2024 with her beloved husband by her side. She suffered from Lewy Body Dementia for many years.
Jane grew up in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, where she met Harry, the love of her life. The high school sweethearts were married for 62 years. She held various jobs, including at Bell Telephone, before starting her favorite job of all…Mom. When she wasn’t coaching soccer teams or driving her three kids around in the station wagon, some of her best times were spent with family and friends on annual trips to North Wildwood. She was also very close with her neighbors on Teton Road, with whom she had a lot of laughs and amusing capers.
Jane’s second favorite job was that of Crossing Guard in Parkwood for more than 20 years. She was loved by all the schoolchildren, neighbors, and dogs who safely crossed her busy intersection every day. She always had kind words (and extra mittens) for everyone.
Jayne (she added the “y” somewhere along the way for flair) was also a huge Elvis fan. She pilgrimaged to Graceland twice and amassed quite a collection of memorabilia and music. Her Halloween costumes were legendary, many of which were homemade, including, of course, the bedazzled Elvis jumpsuit.
She is survived by her dedicated and loving husband, Harry F. Gosnear. Sons Harry B. Gosnear and Timothy J. (Rita) Gosnear and daughter Lori G. (Rocco) Piccone. Her grandchildren will miss her very much: Grace M. Gosnear, Caroline A. Gosnear, Margaret A. Gosnear, Xavier R. Piccone, and Sebastian H. Piccone.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jane’s visitation on Thursday, August 1, 9:30am to 11:30am at Mannal Funeral Home, 6925 Frankford Ave. (at Tyson). Her Memorial Service will follow at 11:30am. Interment private. Luncheon to follow at the Phila. FOP Lodge #5 at 11630 Caroline Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jane’s name may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org.
The family would like to thank Jane’s faithful and loving caregivers, Maureen and Sheryl. They were her guardian angels in her final years. Words cannot express the gratitude these selfless women deserve.
Lastly, although Jane was sick for a long time, she still brought joy to everyone around her. She embodied unconditional love and perseverance and will be missed dearly.
