Janice H. Mannal
Janice H. Mannal (October 14, 2026) Mother to David V. (Abbey) Peake, Jr and R. Liggett Peake. Adoring grandmother to Lillie, Greyson, Olivia and Sawyer Peake. Daughter of the late Robert L. Mannal and Helen Mannal. Sister of the late Robert L. Mannal II. Janice has been a licensed funeral director since 1970. She went to work at the family funeral home Robert L. Mannal Funeral Home in Mayfair where her license still hangs. With her son David they were able to expand their business and in 2012 bought Craft Funeral Home of Erdenheim. Janice’s career as a funeral director has been illustrious. She has not only served the community she grew up in but also the profession. Janice served as the first woman President of the Philadelphia Funeral Directors Association. She went on to become the first woman appointment to the State Board of Funeral Directors by Governor Tom Ridge. After her terms on the State Board, she went to serve on the Board of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association where she also became the first woman named as President. Her colleagues would jokingly refer to her as the ‘First Woman of Funeral Directing.’
Janice was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. Janice loved Ocean City, NJ where she spent her summers as a young girl and was able to return to Ocean City in 1998. She loved spending time on the bay with her friends and family ‘holding court.’ Her favorite past time was spending time with her grandchildren and bringing laughter to all who had the pleasure of sharing her company.
