Stephen A. Hatton

Hatton, Stephen A. (October 14, 2026). Beloved son of the late Paul and Dorothy Hatton. Brother to David Hatton.

“Steve”, as he was known, loved music.  He was an accomplished guitarist.  He worked and taught guitar at Howard Herbert’s Music Center for over 30 years.  When the store closed he gave lessons in Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical, Blue Grass and Country at Steve’s Guitar Cellar in the basement of his house.  Steve was a knowledgeable and patient teacher.  His students enjoyed learning guitar with him and he loved giving the joy of music to others.

Steve had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them.  They all described Steve as nice, gentle and kind.  Steve will be missed!

He lived with Dorothy and Paul and provided loving care for them in their later years.

Relatives and friends are invited to Stephen’s Graveside service Thursday 10/29, 10am at Magnolia Cemetery, Levick St, Philadelphia, PA 19035.
