Charles D. Williams

Charles Don Williams was born on August 24, 1944, to the union of the late Charles James and Gertrude Rachel Williams in Talbot, Maryland.  He moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his family while still a young child.

 

Charles attended Benjamin Franklin High School where after graduation was employed by the US Navy Shipyard working in the Dry Docks.  He then was hired by the US Mint in Philadelphia where he became a Tool Maker for over 36 years of service.

 

Charles was known as “Donald” or “Chuck” by family and friends, and he was a happy go lucky person.  Charles was always on the go.  He did not let anyone, or anything hold him back from living his life to the fullest and having a good time.  He had a warm and welcoming spirit, made friends wherever he went and was very well known and respected in his neighborhood.  He was humorous, witty, lovable and was the life of any event he attended.   He had an amazing sense of humor, always smiling, laughing and cracking jokes that would have you laughing every time you thought of him.  Charles hobbies were fast car racing, going to the gun range, parking at the airport watching the airplanes arrive and depart on warm summer evenings, watching old Western shows and taking trips down Maryland to spend time with his family and friends.  He was very skillful, handy and crafty with his hands.  He loved to fix and make unique things in his spare time. He was also a member of the Chris Jake Perry Club where he attended for meetings and social events.

 

Charles married Ruth Grace Humphrey where they brought two children into the world.  They later divorced in 1996.  Charles started another family with Ellen Louise Jones where they brought 4 children into the world.

 

Charles leaves behind his legacy to cherish in his memory: children; oldest daughter Charlena Renee, oldest son Don Mazzio, Sr., Charles Darnell, Sade Denise, Christopher David and deceased Arlene Darlene Williams, son-n-law Charles Albert Young, daughter-n-law Crystal Lynn Williams, grandchildren Taniesha, Tiyonna, Don Jr., Destiny, 11 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to Charles’s viewing Saturday 6/14, 9am to 11am at Mannal Funeral Home, 6925 Frankford Ave. (at Tyson). His funeral service will follow at 11am. Interment Chelten Hills Cemetery.
