Robert G. Wilson
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert George Wilson, 81, who left us on March 21, 2025, at his home in Philadelphia.
Robert was born March 1, 1944, in Philadelphia, son of Carl and Maria ‘Ruby’ Wilson. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1962 and made a lifelong home in Philadelphia, working for the Bulletin and later the Philadelphia Inquirer before retiring in March 2007. He was also a proud member of Local 628.
Robert enjoyed many happy times at the home his family owned in Pine Beach, NJ, as well as family gatherings among his brothers and cousins. He loved to travel and took many road trips with wife Barbara, including a few cross-country adventures. He collected lots of postcards from his travels as well as memorabilia of favorite things including lighthouses, penguins, and moose among others. He also maintained a collection of family photos including many albums and slides from years past. He was most of all a beloved brother, husband, uncle, cousin and friend with a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh.
Robert was the devoted husband of the late Marilyn (nee Lecates, d. 7/20/1993) and Barbara (nee Bachmann, d. 4/8/2020). He was the youngest brother of Carl D Wilson and the late William J Wilson (Susan). Robert is survived by brother-in-law Edward H Bachmann III, niece Sandra Mack (Michael), nephew Thomas Wilson (Diane), great nieces and nephews Beth Anne Fowler (Stephen), David Kyle (Kristen), Erin Kyle, Kelsey Kaiser (Matt), Angela Russo, Jessica Wilson (Matt), Dylan Wilson, Colin Wilson and great-great nieces and nephews Lydia, Elin, Loralei, and Adeline Fowler, Lilly and August Kyle, Griffin and Isabella Kaiser, Dominic and Noah Russo. Also many cousins on the Lamont side and wonderful friends.
Robert is predeceased by sister-in-law Linda Wilson (Carl), nephew William J Wilson Jr and his wife Allison, and niece Susan Kyle (David).
Relatives and friends are invited to Robert’s visitation Monday 3/31, 11am to 12 noon at Mannal Funeral Home 6925 Frankford Ave., (at Tyson). His graveside service will follow at Lawnview Cemetery.
So sorry to hear this. Bob did have an infectious laugh as I remember his visits with Carl and Linda.
