Martha E. Creighton
Martha E. Creighton (nee Hartung) (November 6, 2022).
Martha, 91, entered into rest on November 6, 2022 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry Norman Creighton for 43 years. Martha was the loving mother to Kenneth P. Creighton, Linda C. Hickey, and Steven N. Creighton.
She will also be missed by her 6 grandchildren: Thomas and Lauren Hickey, Chris and Kyle Creighton and Brittany and Brooke Creighton. She enjoyed being an active part of their lives, whether it be attending school events and athletic games, visiting theme parks, swimming in the pool, playing games, or simply watching TV. Each child has special memories of Grammy or “G-G”.
Martha was born on October 15, 1931 in Philadelphia. She graduated from Dobbins Vocational High School in 1949. She went on to work as an Executive Secretary at Rosenau Bros. (maker of Cinderella frocks) and the Upholsterers International Union (UIU). Martha married Harry in 1957 and quickly moved to their house in Mayfair, where she resided for 63 years. Martha was active in the Mayfair Elementary and Lincoln HS Home and School Associations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and a fan of the Holy Terrors sports teams. She enjoyed summer vacations in Ocean City, NJ and travelling to California and Florida. Her hobbies included reading, crocheting, word puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
Relatives and friends are invited to Martha’s Viewing Wednesday, November 9th from 10 to 11am at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Her Funeral Service will follow at 11am. Interment St’s Peter and Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Martha’s name my be made to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 3101 Tyson Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19149.
